WHO WE ARE
The Master Naturalist program is a community based natural resource education and volunteer program. Its purpose is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities for the State of Missouri.
In simpler terms, we are a group of like-minded people who love nature and the outdoors. We are made up of people from all walks of life. We enjoy different activities, from camping, backpacking, and hiking, to gardening, floating, and bird-watching. The two most important attributes of a master naturalist are a passion for nature and a curiosity of the world around us to promote life-long learning.
We promote awareness of natural resource conservation and current conservation issues. We educate the public about how nature works and why it is important. We volunteer our time for service projects such as planting trees, working booths at events, picking up trash, and performing natural surveys.
