It takes about 6,000 caterpillars to raise one clutch of young birds!
Where do these caterpillars come from? Native trees are key to providing natural habitat to hundreds of different butterflies and moths. Does the invasive Bradford Pear feed young and growing songbirds? Turns out no. Native trees also benefit nature and human life in many other ways.
To learn how you can be part of a healthy ecosystem, visit our Chert Glades Missouri Master Naturalist exhibit this Saturday, July 9th at Carver Day Celebration.
